Landscape Construction

Patios and Sidewalks

  • BlueStone
  • Brick Pavers
  • Granite Steps

You wouldn’t paint drywall before you fill the screw holes.  The same is true with blue stone or brick paver sidewalks and patios.  Even some of the home shows and supplier websites suggest that simply removing the topsoil and installing a thin layer of sand is sufficient, and in some parts of the country that may be true, but not here in New England.  If you don’t address the ground water and frost issues, your investment will be a short term gain and a long term maintenance and safety issue.  The key is in the sub-base materials and drainage design.  If your plan includes granite steps and curbing, it is important to understand how the different materials will move when the ground freezes, and how to minimize the movement.  We will be happy to look at your upcoming patio or sidewalk project and propose a design tailored to the soil conditions on your property.  Our proposals explain in detail the design, the cost, and why it’s a good idea to make the investment and do the job right the first time.
